Nadine S. Kohane concentrates her practice on high-stakes complex litigation and focuses much of her practice on defending companies in lawsuits arising from products liability, warranty, negligence, toxic torts, and related claims. She has successfully represented major foreign and domestic manufacturers and distributors in the automotive, equipment, household and consumer product industries in products liability litigation. Her fresh and innovative approach to defending her clients, and their brands and products, while triggered before any lawsuit is ever filed, carries through in every aspect of litigation, from early pleadings stages, through sophisticated multi-faceted discovery, dispositive motion practice, alternative dispute resolution, and trial.
Ms. Kohane currently serves as local trial counsel in New York and New Jersey for cases involving product liability claims against the Volkswagen group entities and other major manufacturers and distributors in the automotive industry. She has successfully defended products liability claims involving airbags and restraints, crashworthiness, fuel systems, and other vehicle componentry. Ms. Kohane also serves as counsel to the Volkswagen and Audi companies in product-related class actions and multi-district litigation. Additionally, Ms. Kohane serves as New York and New Jersey trial counsel in the defense of toxic tort claims in the realm of asbestos litigation.
Prior to joining Herzfeld + Rubin, Ms. Kohane served as a judicial intern to both the Hon. Shira A. Scheindlin (ret.) with the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York and the Hon. Bernard J. Fried (ret.) with the Commercial Division of the New York State Supreme Court, New York County. During law school, she was selected to be an Articles Editor of the Brooklyn Law Review.
