Andrew Kates is an experienced litigator concentrating his practice on product liability, toxic tort and commercial litigation. He has experience serving as national coordinating counsel, regional counsel and local counsel for equipment manufactures and various other corporate defendants.

As national coordinating counsel, Mr. Kates has, inter alia, managed nationwide liability dockets, assessed and analyzed risk, developed and implemented global defense strategies, coordinated expert and fact witness discovery, and trained local counsel.

Attendant to his commercial litigation experience, Mr. Kates has defended corporations in all facets of general liability, premises liability, employer-related litigation, financial services litigation and breach of contract cases, among others areas.

Prior to joining Herzfeld + Rubin, Mr. Kates was as associate at a national law firm, where he represented a broad array of clients in product liability, toxic tort and commercial litigation.

Mr. Kates earned his Juris Doctor cum laude from Touro Law Center, where he received Dean’s List honors and was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award on three occasions. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Hofstra University.
