Frances E. Trachter is in the New York
office of Herzfeld & Rubin, P.C. Her practice focuses on
commercial real estate leasing and subleasing matters as
well as commercial real estate acquisitions and real estate
related litigation.
Her commercial real estate experience includes time spent as
Counsel to Sussman Sollis Ebin Tweedy & Wood, LLP where she
specialized in commercial leasing. In addition, she has
worked as in-house counsel with two prominent
owner-developer-property manager organizations.
Ms. Trachter’s background includes significant corporate as
well as legal experience. She held the position of Associate
General Counsel with Woolworth Corporation, which included
responsibility for the company’s employee benefits and ERISA
matters in addition to representing two of the company’s
subsidiaries. Ms. Trachter practiced law with Woolworth
Corporation for eleven years. She began her practice of law
as an attorney with the U.S. Customs Service.
Ms. Trachter also held the position of Woolworth
Corporation’s corporate Vice President of Public Affairs,
responsible for all internal and external communications,
media relations, press releases, CEO speeches and the
management of Woolworth’s corporate philanthropy program.
She held several other senior corporate communications
positions prior to returning to the practice of law.
Ms Trachter is a member of the Committee on Real Property
Law of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York
and a member of the subcommittee drafting the Committee’s
Model Ground Lease. She has been a member of the Faculty of
the “Commercial Leasing A Thru Z” Program at the City Bar
Center for CLE sponsored by the Committee on Real Property
Law. She is also a member of the New York State Bar
Association and its Committee on Commercial Leasing, and a
member of the American Bar Association. She is co-author,
with John B. Wood, Esq., of “Preparing for an Effective
Subleasing Program While Negotiating the Lease”, (March
2006) a chapter in Negotiating and Drafting Office Leases,
by John B. Wood, Esq. and Alan DiSciullo, Esq. (Law Journal
Press, 1995)
Ms. Trachter is a graduate of Queens College, City of New
York (B.A. 1967) and New York Law School, (J.D., cum
laude, 1978), and is admitted to practice in the State
of New York and in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New
York and the U.S. Court of International Trade.
